Did you ever come across the story of Amy Stewart, the author who popularised the use of Evernote for writers?
She was able to capture over 634 newspaper clippings of an interesting case from 1914, and created over 1000 notes and materials for her book research, on the Evernote App.
Her story shows how productivity tools can help us organise, accelerate, and amplify the work we do.
What are Productivity Tools?
Productivity tools are the resources whether physical or virtual that assist or simplify the pursuit of a productive endeavour.
Why are Productivity Tools important?
By their very nature, productivity tools are supposed to support or accelerate our productive output. In essence, if a productive tool is not making life easier or better in one way or another then it’s going to be hard for me to classify it as such.
I believe that these tools are supposed to make our lives better or make our work process better depending on the type of tool or resource in question.
So, a productivity tool can come in different forms. They can be applications, products, services or other resources.

10 Amazing Productivity Tools and Apps You Need for a better Work Life
- Notes app on your phone
This is perhaps the most underrated application on most mobile devices.
As someone who used Evernote for many years, I didn’t realise that the notes app on my phone could provide many of the same features as Evernote and similar applications.
I have been using the iPhone notes app for a little over a year and it’s been a game changer.
And the best part is that it is free and will always be Free (at least I would think so).
2. Calendar & Scheduling Apps
If you’ve ever forgotten to attend a meeting or make a call as promised because it wasn’t scheduled, then you know why a scheduling app with a proper reminder system is a game-changer.
I had to finally start using a scheduler because I kept forgetting semi-important appointments.
These days, I am getting into a better scheduling routine, and it has been so helpful.
There are a few options out there. I use Google Calendar but if you want something a bit more specific, especially one that allows others to book a meeting or call with you, then you can try Calendly or SavvyCal.
3. Fitness Watch
Staying fit and healthy have immerse benefits on your health and productivity. A fitness watch is an amazing tool that can help you constantly monitor your fitness levels.
I have been using a fitness watch since 2017, and I can confidently say it has helped me stay relatively fit and within my desired weight.
I particularly love this brand and this brand.
They also allow you check your heart rate, blood pressure, take calls and even read your messages (though I don’t use mine for these things).

Reading is one of the most productive habits you can incorporate into your daily schedule. It has numerous benefits including an increase in your creativity and ideas, an improvement in your vocabulary and ability to express yourself, and of course the chance to live in another person’s world.
Why do I need a Kindle to read?
The size of a kindle is attuned to the size of most physical books, so it often feels like reading a physical book, but much more than that, it has less distractions than your phone.

5. Google Sheets
I think we can all agree that collaborative and real time team projects are here to stay.
From Apps like Notion and Trello to the more traditional options like Google Docs and Microsoft One Drive.
I personally use Google Docs at work as it is simple to use and still gets the job done.
6. A Planner
Having a simple yet structured planner can be so helpful. It can help you finetune your ideas and organise your tasks.
I have used few planners over the years, and I confirm that Passion Planner is a cult favourite. It was my go-to during and after the pandemic, and I can safely say that it kept me grounded and task oriented.

Do you have days where you experience a mild headache, and you feel disoriented as your workday progresses.
You may have been experiencing some dehydration and if you’re anything like most of us then you often forget to drink enough water. Here is where having a water bottle with measurements clearly printed can be so helpful.
Here are a few options to consider:
Drinking enough water can increase your clarity and focus, improve your digestive system (of course), and may lighten your mood.

Journaling is a powerful productivity practice. I believe it is one of the secrets to longevity in business and in life. Why?

Do you ever get tired of seating down? I know I do, and I have found standing desks to be a great option to tweak the ebb and flow of a typical workday.

Here are a few great options to check out.

I have a little confession; I have grammar fever. While I love to read and write, I have often struggled with tenses and using too many commas. Lol

One of the most popular ones out there is Grammarly. Other AI options include Quillbot and ProWritingAid.
